Expanding Your Business Overseas: Why and Why Not?A doubleshot of business news espresso with extra froth
Why Not? • Language barriers. Why? • 95% of the worlds’ consumers reside outside the U.S. (according to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative) - those are all potential new customers! Whatever side you teeter toward, remember that going global doesn’t have to be a “right now” sort of thing. It’s always a possibility that you should consider, simply because you’re a business owner. If you are considering such an expansion, then there is a lot of work to be done before you begin. Be sure to check back the rest of the week as we continue discussing Expanding Your Business Overseas. Hello!
I see the Internet as a global distribution channel. It personally drives me mad (as a shopper), when I find a product that I want to buy and have to find out it cannot (for whatever reason) shipped to my region. Most shops don’t make those limitations clear in the very beginning. That’s bad usability.
Anyway: A US business should take the advantage right now and profit from the low dollar exchange rate. Meaning the REST of the World can buy American products very cheap.
Depending on your product and services there my be some limitations as far as trade is concerned: Shipping costs, delivery times, shipping insurance, import duties, etc.
I have directly linked to an article on my Blog, “Attract International Buyers More Easily”. Enjoy it.
Yours John
